    It was parfume. He didn’t want to smell himself crouched down like that for one hour. It would slow him down..

    What language is “recorde da hora”? Sounds bad to me.

    In Italian its more like “record dell’ ora”

    This is the first time I’ve seen any footage of him doing the record ride. Great stuff! I remember seeing his bike in Bicycling magazine as a young teenager back then and thinking how absolutely cool it was. Still is actually.

    …you’ll notice eddy also splashed it (menthol or eucalyptus maybe) around the neck of his jersey so the fumes would stay w/ him as he rode…

    I liked the way he defiantly rode over the sponges after he finished. Looked like he was sick of avoiding them for the past hour.
