CVV is an original homeboy for us here in the Chicago Suburbs. He is a class act and always jumps at the chance to get out for a road ride or winter MTB with the old crew.
I had the privilege of racing with him in the Junior ranks.

He is so much of a class act, that we were astonished and pleased when he took the time to write a brief note about a fellow cyclist that has past due to a heart condition, he was one of CVV's biggest fans. Christian had a brief write up in his tour diarly in Velonews and donated some team kit to displayed as a symbol of our friends passion for cycling at his wake.

in 2002, on our honeymoon in Europe i steered my wife to Tours, France to see CVV finish Paris-Tours. Unfortunately, he met with some road furniture early in the race, and i saw him roll in in the backseat of a teamcar, with is trademark backwards Postal hat on.
My wife and i lingered around the team buses after the race, and got to see Super Mario leave the Aqua Sapone team bus in Grand PRO fashion, but Christian spotted us hanging outside the Postal bus and made it a point to come over and say hi and spend a few minutes with us talking about silly stuff back in the States.

Thanks to JV for giving Christian a leadership role, and best of luck to CVV in 2009

Great story. Just goes to show that there aren't many surprises in cycling, you get where you are from working hard for a long time.

Or having Eddy B. write your prescriptions.
